Rachel and Silvia showing children a projection of a data visualisation inside the EME van in the Mata Atlantica forest, Brazil

As part of The Dark Forest and A Conversation Between Trees British-Brazilian projects, Rachel and the Active Ingredient team in collaboration with Silvia Leal and the EME project, ran a series of workshops in both the UK and Brazil. Based on the human sensing and felt maps activities Rachel devised to help participants of all ages understand the process of weather and climate sensing, and the visualisation and interpretation of data.

Rachel also worked with Silvia Leal and botanist Bruno Rezende (Rio Botanical Gardens) to develop activities around weather, place and climate as part of a schools exchange between Djanogly Academy in Nottingham, UK and Escola Camilo Castelo Branco, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Guanabara Bay Institute, Niteroi (Brazil).

The workshops as part of A Conversation Between Trees took place with schools and community groups in Nottingham, Northamptonshire, Devon (UK) and Rio de Janeiro.
