Welcome to Convivial Gatherings
Convivial Gatherings are regular gatherings, workshops and quarterly retreats that focus on conviviality, creativity, seasonality and the future.
Convivial Gatherings are for people who are seeking more meaningful, creative and positive ways to think about community and the future, and a deeper connection to nature. They are intended for anyone over 18 years of age.
Convivial Gatherings provide time out from our busy lives in a beautiful, friendly and restful environment. Participants will be able to share ideas, experiences, concerns, hopes and dreams, through taking part in creative activities, guided walks, outdoor experiences, imaginative thinking and making, in an open, fun, supportive and friendly space.
The creative activities include writing and storytelling, sketching, art and craft making, and exploring sustainable and mindful uses of technology.
No previous experience is required.
What Is Conviviality?
‘the quality of being friendly and making people feel happy and welcome’ (Cambridge Dictionary)
‘living with’ (latin translation)
‘joyful or festive activity’ (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
The gatherings explore the notions of conviviality and abundance – coming together to celebrate the past, present and future, where we are now and where we want to be.
These workshops and retreats have emerged from Rachel Jacobs’ nearly 30 years of award winning arts, community and research practices.
All the gatherings aim to be as inclusive as possible. An assistant will be available (particularly for outdoor activities) and we will aim to support the needs of each participant as much as we can. Please contact us if you have any accessibility requirements or have questions about the activities.
